Jonathan N. Schonberg Joins American Elm Advisors and American Elm Distribution Partners as Director of Business Development

Portsmouth, NH – American Elm is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan N. Schonberg as Director of Business Development, effective in 2023. Mr. Schonberg brings over two decades of invaluable experience in the finance industry to his new role.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Schonberg has demonstrated dedication to the finance sector, with a strong focus on working closely with quantitative and alternative investment managers. His expertise lies in building sales and marketing content, structure, and processes, making him a valuable asset to the American Elm team.

Mr. Schonberg’s previous role included a pivotal institutional sales position at Gerstein Fisher, a quantitative-focused firm known for its innovative approach to investments. Additionally, he played a key role in leading the dynamic sales and marketing team at Water Island Capital, an event-driven investment manager. During his tenure, Water Island Capital experienced remarkable asset growth, increasing from $170 million to an impressive $3.9 billion. Prior to joining American Elm, Mr. Schonberg served as Head of Distribution for L2 Asset Management, LLC and Head of RIA and Wealth Management for Kailash Concepts.  L2 and Kailash are both deeply rooted in academia and pursue a “quantamental” approach to ranking securities and delivering equity long/short and market neutral strategies.

Jonathan Schonberg is a graduate of Middlebury College, holding a B.A. He is also a licensed financial professional, possessing Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses, and obtaining the Series 24 license in 2007.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Schonberg is an enthusiast of outdoor activities, including fishing, skiing, camping, and spending quality time with his four children.
